She is 7 News Sydney’s racing reporter after falling in love with the sport after covering mighty mare Winx in the early stages of her phenomenal consecutive wins. It’s nothing to see Michelle at the stables at Rosehill or Warwick Farm in the early hours of the morning chatting to jockeys and trainers.
It’s just a regular day in television for Michelle to back up and chat with Michael Usher on 7’s The Latest covering anything from breaking Rugby League news to worldwide sports. Michelle travels extensively to cover all of the big sporting events like the Rugby League World Cup in the UK, State of Origin around Australia and Boxing in the United States.
Away from the TV, Michelle is a key member of the SEN Radio Breakfast team with popular commentator Andrew Vossy and League legend Greg “Brandy” Alexander. She can be heard each morning, presenting sports update which often brings debate and a broader insight into whatever the topic is they are discussing. Michelle is renowned for breaking news, especially in the Rugby League community and doesn’t mind having an opinion, even if it divides a room!
Outside of her daily commitments Michelle can be found guest speaking, appearing on panels and is a regular MC. Michelle is in a unique position as a mother of three very energetic sons, two of whom are in professional Rugby League systems. She’s able to speak with authority on the junior development and pathways and is extremely passionate about grassroots sport in general.
Michelle is also a huge supporter of the NRLW. She is passionate about women in sport and the challenges women face to balance career, family and lifestyle. Michelle comes from a close family originally from Sydney before venturing up to live on the Central Coast of NSW, where she’d join hundreds of commuters each morning battling the m1 to get to Martin Place for work.
Nowadays she and her husband Justin spread their time between Sydney and Canberra where her family has relocated on 4 acres to enjoy a bit of quiet time when she can. Michelle has just ventured into farm life, growing her own vegetables, chasing alpacas “Billy and Dave” around the yard and has found the perfect women cave with the big screen to kick back at watch the races on Seven when she doesn’t have to work.
Her three British Bulldogs, Tannah, Gus and Remi keep her on her toes and when time permits she’s enjoys taking the boat out on the water for a bit of wakeboarding with her boys. She stresses she is still very much an amateur leaving the tricks and fancy stuff to her sons.
